Goethe-Institut Cyprus to host Berlinale Selection 2026 screenings at Pantheon Cinema

Nicosia, Cyprus. Goethe-Institut Cyprus will present a four-day film series showcasing current German cinema as part of the Berlinale Selection 2026. Six films from Berlinale festivals between 2023 and 2025 will be screened at Pantheon Cinema from February 5 to 8.


Programme and support

Supported by the Friends of Cinema Society, the Nicosia screenings will cover contemporary social issues, including identity, vulnerability and belonging, with an emphasis on individuals in moments of transition.

Screening schedule

The series opens with Köln 75 on February 5 at 8pm. Shahid will be screened on February 6, followed by a discussion in English with Keti Papadima. On February 7, Langue Étrangère will screen at 6pm, followed by Bones and Names at 8pm. On the final day, Punching the World will be screened first, followed by Afire.

Languages and admission

Themes across the selection

Bones and Names and Afire focus on creative lives under pressure, while Langue Étrangère and Shahid address questions of language, migration and self-definition. Köln 75 and Punching the World revisit the past through different approaches, including documentary reflection and fictionalised coming-of-age.
