Athens, Greece. Greece will offer military means and personnel to bolster Bulgaria’s defenses following a request by the neighbouring country, Defence Minister Nikos Dendias said on Friday. He said the support will include air and missile defense assets, fighter aircraft, and coordinating personnel.
Patriot system deployment
Dendias said a battery of the air and missile Patriot defence system will be moved to northern Greece to cover a large part of Bulgaria, an EU and NATO country that borders Greece in the north.
F-16 jets and coordination support
Dendias said two Greek F16 fighter jets will be stationed in northern Greece for additional protection to Bulgaria. He added that senior officers of Greek air forces will move to Sofia to help with coordination.
What do you think the deployment of Greek air defenses and aircraft will mean for Bulgaria’s security?
