Nicosia, Cyprus. The Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot sides are continuing regular separate meetings with the United Nations ahead of the visit of UN Special Envoy Maria Angela Holguin to the island later in July. The meetings are focused on substantive issues related to the Cyprus problem, according to sources who spoke to the Cyprus News Agency.
Preparations for envoy’s visit
Sources said both sides are holding separate meetings with UN representatives as part of preparations for Holguin’s upcoming visit later this month.
Planned Brussels meetings
Following her visit to Cyprus, Holguin is expected to travel to Brussels for meetings in mid-July.
Recent remarks and previous visit
Earlier this week, Holguin called on Cypriots to seize the opportunity to find a solution.
Holguin was last on the island in early June, when she met President Nikos Christodoulides, Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhurman, and other civil groups.
