Greek bank executives cite trust, talent and AI as drivers of workforce change

Athens, Greece. Senior executives from major Greek banking groups with operations in Cyprus used the Delphi Economic Forum to describe how trust, talent and artificial intelligence are reshaping the future of work in financial services.

Trust and employee experience

Mirka Nemfakou, General Director for Human Resources at the National Bank of Greece (NBG), said organisations trusted by employees will succeed in the future, not necessarily those with the best technology. She said trust must be earned and linked it to the bank’s long-standing history and employees choosing to place their confidence in it.

Nemfakou said there is no talent shortage in Greece but a talent environment gap, adding that it involves not only pay but also trust, development and leadership quality. She said competition is increasingly related to employee experience and that organisations succeed when people understand the “why” behind change.

AI-driven career models and reskilling

Alpha Bank Greece Chief Human Resources Officer Fragiski Melissa described a shift toward a dynamic careers model driven by artificial intelligence. She said talent now is defined by the ability to adapt quickly as roles change rapidly, reflecting a redefinition of capability in the workplace.

Melissa said reskilling should be based on redesigning roles, targeted training and internal mobility rather than broad one-size-fits-all programmes. She said the bank is introducing tailored learning paths, AI-focused training applied to daily work and certification in change management to support adaptation.

Internal mobility as a growth tool

Melissa highlighted internal mobility as a key feature for companies, allowing staff to move across roles, learn through experience and grow within the same organisation.

How is your organisation adapting its workforce strategy to changes driven by trust, talent needs and artificial intelligence?
