Limassol, Cyprus. The Israeli Hadassah Medical Organisation has formally launched Hadassah Medical Centre Limassol, its first permanent medical presence in Europe outside Israel. The opening marks a further stage in the organisation’s planned healthcare expansion in Cyprus.
Opening ceremony
A blessing ceremony was held on Thursday at the centre, attended by government representatives, business leaders and healthcare professionals.
Bishop Athanasios of Limassol and Chief Rabbi of Cyprus Arie Zeev Raskin led the ceremony before invited guests toured the facility.
Services and patient care
The Limassol centre will provide diagnostic imaging, specialist consultations, laboratory medicine, rehabilitation and preventative healthcare.
Patients requiring more complex treatment will be able to obtain second opinions or referrals through Hadassah’s Israeli network. The Cyprus centre will coordinate care before and after treatment.
Hadassah manages two university hospitals in Israel and announced earlier this year its intention to establish a permanent healthcare network in Cyprus.
Further expansion plans
Within the next 12 months, Hadassah intends to establish another hospital in Nicosia, with five operating theatres and approximately 50 inpatient beds.
The organisation is also evaluating a separate Category A hospital in Limassol, planned to include between eight and 10 operating theatres and more than 100 beds.
Both projects form part of the planned Hadassah Healthcare Park, an integrated medical network intended to expand hospital capacity, specialist services and research activity in Cyprus.
