Paphos, Cyprus. Israeli travel company ISSTA will operate daily flights between Jordan and Cyprus during the Passover period to address restricted air capacity and increased demand for outbound travel. The temporary service will run from March 30 to April 8, linking Aqaba airport with Paphos.
Temporary air bridge via Jordan
ISSTA said the “air bridge” is intended to offer an alternative route for travellers affected by limitations at Tel Aviv’s main airport. The company cited ongoing operational constraints in Israel, including caps on passenger numbers per flight and reduced activity by foreign airlines, which it said have significantly limited available seats.
Overland transfer and flight operations
Under the plan, passengers will be transported overland from Israel to Jordan before boarding flights to Cyprus operated by Electra Airways. ISSTA said it has also arranged visa facilitation and full travel coordination, describing the process as structured and continuous from departure to arrival.
Context for Aqaba departures
ISSTA said the approach aims to bypass bottlenecks in Israel’s airspace while maintaining access to nearby destinations. The use of Aqaba as an alternative departure point is an established practice, and ISSTA said its importance has grown in recent weeks amid heightened geopolitical tensions and disruption to standard flight schedules following the US-Israeli conflict with Iran.
