Jose Carreira arrived in Cyprus

The Director of the European Bureau for Asylum in Refugees (EASO) arrived in Nicosia to provide operational support to the Cypriot side. First and foremost, he met with the Minister of the Interior, Konstantin Petridis, and the head of the Cyprus Asylum Service Makis Polidor. Also, as part of his visit, Carreyra visited the reception center for refugees in Cofina. It is planned that in the near future the organization will send several experts to this center.
Recall that on February 28 this year, an additional agreement applies to the main treaty on the reception of refugees in Cyprus. According to the document, the European Bureau undertakes to provide additional assistance to Cyprus, in case of an increase in the influx of refugees. The agreement is valid until January 31, 2018.
