Kazakhstan-Cyprus Business Forum held in Astana during Cyprus president’s official visit

Astana, Kazakhstan. The Kazakhstan-Cyprus Business Forum was held in Astana as part of the first official visit of Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides to Kazakhstan. The event gathered senior officials and more than 70 business representatives from both countries to discuss cooperation in key economic sectors.

Forum participants and agenda

The forum brought together Kazakhstan Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov, President Christodoulides and representatives from the business communities of Kazakhstan and Cyprus. Discussions focused on priority areas for cooperation in trade, logistics, agriculture, IT, artificial intelligence, fintech and investment.

The agenda also covered sectors identified by both countries as having strong long-term potential, including transport and logistics, financial and investment services, digital technologies, food security, renewable energy, healthcare and structured investment projects.

Role of Freedom Holding Corp.

Freedom Holding Corp., one of the largest investment holding companies operating across Central Asia and Europe, served as the strategic partner of the forum. Its participation reflected the company’s role in linking the investment ecosystems of Kazakhstan and Cyprus.

The plenary session was moderated by Timur Turlov, Founder and CEO of Freedom Holding Corp., who was the only private-sector representative to address the forum alongside the heads of state and government.

Institutional support and statements

The event was organised with the participation of institutional partners including Kazakh Invest and the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Keve).

According to Turlov, stronger direct links between the entrepreneurial communities of the two countries can create new opportunities for entrepreneurship, investment and broader economic cooperation.

Evgenii Tiapkin, Executive Director at Freedom24, said the event held special significance for the company. He said Freedom24 was pleased to share its experience of integrating a commercial bank and other services into Kazakhstan’s government digital ecosystem.

Tiapkin said Kazakhstan is among the global leaders in digitalisation and added that the company was proud to contribute to that transformation by developing products aimed at making financial services faster, more convenient and more accessible for customers.

Economic dialogue

The forum marked a step in strengthening economic dialogue between Kazakhstan and Cyprus, with an emphasis on practical opportunities for businesses, investors and institutions.
