Kyiv hit by massive Russian missile attack, officials say

Kyiv, Ukraine. Kyiv came under a “massive” Russian missile attack early Thursday, with officials reporting strikes on multiple buildings across the city. Explosions were heard by Reuters witnesses as air raid alerts remained in effect.

Kyiv reports hits and falling fragments

Mayor Vitali Klitschko said on Telegram that a mass attack on the capital was still underway. He reported hits on both residential and non-residential buildings on both sides of the Dnipro River.

Klitschko said fragments fell near two residential buildings in one district, with no fire reported and no casualties reported. Emergency medical teams were dispatched.

Tymur Tkachenko, head of Kyiv’s military administration, said at least one hit was recorded in an eastern suburb.

Dnipro also comes under attack

The southeastern city of Dnipro also came under attack, regional governor Oleksandr Ganzha said on Telegram. He reported damage to some private homes and cars, with no indications of casualties.

Air raid alerts remained in effect in both Kyiv and Dnipro well after midnight.
