The ex-head of the Central Bank Mr. Christodoulos Christodoulou, four accomplices and three companies will be surrendered to the Cort due to suspicions of bribery and corruption. The official charges will be presented on the 4th of April.

Presumably, Mr. Christodoulou received a bribe of over 1 million Euros for participating in the takeover of the Laiki bank in 2006. Overall, the defendants were charged with 29 violations, including corruption, bribery, abuse of power and trust, as well as money laundering.

The Laiki Bank was closed back in 2013.
