Larnaca, Cyprus. Weekly film nights are taking place in Larnaca, with the Larnaca Cinema Society screening independent world films every Monday at the Municipal Theatre of Larnaca (G. Lykourgos Theatre). The screenings are free, in original languages with Greek subtitles, and begin at 8.30pm.
January programme
On January 19, Maura Delpero’s Vermiglio will be screened in Italian with Greek subtitles, followed by a 15-minute discussion.
On January 26, Andrew Haigh’s All of Us Strangers will be shown in English.
February programme
On February 2, Plan 75 will be screened, set in a near-future Japan where the state encourages elderly citizens to voluntarily end their lives.
On February 9, the Larnaca Cinema Society will host award-winning films from the Drama International Short Film Festival, featuring a curated selection of short films in various languages with Greek subtitles, with a total duration of 90 minutes.
On February 16, Jafar Panahi’s It was Just an Accident will be screened as the winter programme concludes. The February programme ends early due to the Green Monday public holiday on the following Monday.
Continuing screenings
The Larnaca Cinema Society said film nights will continue in March with more selections.
