Nicosia, Cyprus. An ‘Under the Lights of Love’ anniversary dinner at the Landmark Nicosia raised €42,900 from ticket sales for the Cyprus Anti-Cancer Society, with Lidl Cyprus covering nearly all event expenses.
Anniversary dinner and Christmas campaign
The dinner marked the culmination of an initiative that began over the Christmas period. Lidl Cyprus said its support ensured the proceeds from ticket sales were directed to the Cyprus Anti-Cancer Society.
The fundraising followed a Christmas drive through Lidl Plus that recorded 278,265 scans and generated €83,479.50. Lidl Cyprus also increased its grant to the organisation, providing €100,000.
Use of funds at Arodafnousa Palliative Care Centre
The funds will support the Society’s Catering and Room Adoption Programmes at the Arodafnousa Palliative Care Centre, described as the first and only centre in Cyprus offering integrated inpatient palliative care services to cancer patients.
Long-term support and existing programmes
Lidl Cyprus said its support for the Cyprus Anti-Cancer Society is part of a 12-year alliance. Since December 2013, the company said it has contributed €1.3 million in total.
The company said it fully covers the Catering Programme and undertakes operating expenses for two rooms under the Room Adoption Programme. It also said it has funded and equipped a dedicated relaxation space for patients’ families.
