Limassol crash victim’s cause of death pending histopathological results after inconclusive autopsy

Limassol, Cyprus. The cause of death of 63-year-old Giorgos Michael, who died after a traffic accident in Limassol on Thursday, remains undetermined pending histopathological test results. An autopsy found no injuries that could explain his death.

Autopsy findings and pending tests

The autopsy was conducted at noon on Friday by state forensic pathologist Angeliki Papetta and was inconclusive, with no injuries identified that could account for Michael’s death. Police reports indicating that Michael suffered from cardiac problems have strengthened the possibility that he died of pathological causes. Samples taken from his body for histopathological tests are expected to determine the cause of death.

Details of the collision

The crash occurred at around 4.30 pm on Thursday on Vasileos Pavlou Street, when Michael’s vehicle veered to the right and entered the oncoming lane, colliding with a semi-truck driven by a 70-year-old. Police said Michael was unconscious at the scene and his death was confirmed after he was transferred to Limassol general hospital.

Police observations and CCTV footage

According to Limassol police, Michael was wearing a seat belt and had no visible injuries. CCTV footage showed his car travelling at low speed.
