Limassol, Cyprus. Police said a 45-year-old suspected of involvement in a drug case linked to an attempted murder in Limassol in 2024 is due to appear before Limassol criminal court in March. The hearing is set for March 23.
Arrest and seized items
The 45-year-old was arrested on Tuesday following a raid last year on the home of a 25-year-old suspect during an investigation into the attempted murder of a 39-year-old man in Limassol in December 2024, police said.
During the search, officers found 2.44 kilograms of cannabis, 940 grams of cannabis resins and 105 grams of cocaine. Police also seized a full firearm cartridge, €1,575 and $200.
Police said the 45-year-old is linked to the drugs and a case has been filed against him.
Other arrests and remand challenge
The 25-year-old suspect was arrested together with a 20-year-old woman in January 2025. Her lawyer later filed a plea against remand, disputing claims that she lived with the suspect.
Details of the attempted murder case
Police said the arrests followed a manhunt launched after an attempted murder in Ayia Fyla in the wider Limassol area on December 30, 2024.
According to police, the incident occurred during a visit by three people to the suspect’s house that had been arranged to resolve differences. Police said the suspect opened the door holding a gun and shot at the three, injuring a 39-year-old in the leg.
Police said the 25-year-old later fled the scene in the 39-year-old’s vehicle.
