Limassol, Cyprus. Water network projects worth €9.2 million will be implemented to reduce water losses in Limassol, the Limassol district organisation (EOA) said on Monday.
Project scope and expected benefits
The EOA said the project involves the gradual replacement of the water network in three large areas of Limassol that are currently experiencing high water losses due to damage. It said the completion of the project is expected to bring financial and operational benefits for the Limassol EOA and its consumers.
Route and network replacement
According to the EOA, the new network will stretch over 100km and replace old pipelines from Enaerios, via Makariou Avenue to the city’s central fire station, south along the bed of the Garyllis river to Navarinou Street, then east via Irini and Gladstonos Streets and south, via Anexartisias Street, towards the coastal road and Enaerios.
Funding
The EOA said the project will be funded by the EU cohesion Thalia programme 2021-2027.
