Frankfurt, Germany. Several staff members were injured on Thursday when the nose gear of a Lufthansa Boeing 787 unexpectedly collapsed at a gate at Frankfurt airport, the airline said. Passengers had not yet boarded the aircraft at the time of the incident.

Lufthansa said crew members and ground staff were on board the aircraft when the nose gear collapsed. The airline said several staff members were injured and were receiving medical treatment.
A Reuters photographer saw multiple emergency vehicles parked around the two-engine widebody aircraft, which partly lay on its belly.
Flight schedule and investigation
The incident occurred at 12:45 p.m. (1045 GMT), Lufthansa said. The aircraft had been scheduled to depart for Los Angeles as flight LH450.
The airline said it was investigating the exact circumstances of the incident with the relevant authorities.

Lufthansa operates the 787-9 variant of the Boeing 787. The aircraft type is a relatively new addition to the group as it plans to gradually phase out less efficient jets and simplify its fleet.
