Man arrested in Paphos over suspected burglaries and burglary tools

Paphos, Cyprus. A 28-year-old man was arrested in Paphos in connection with suspected burglaries and the possession of burglary tools, police said on Friday.

The arrest followed an early-morning police operation on Thursday aimed at preventing burglaries and thefts in the area.

Police operation

Officers monitoring a residential area saw the man entering the gardens of homes and behaving suspiciously, police said.

He attempted to flee after seeing officers but was stopped and arrested for unlawful entry.

Items found

Police said a search of the man found burglary tools in his possession. Further tools, cash and a quantity of drugs were found in his vehicle.

Investigation

The man is also suspected of involvement in a burglary and theft reported in the Paphos district on November 18, 2025, and an attempted burglary on May 21, 2026.

He appeared before Paphos District Court on Thursday, which ordered his detention for five days. Investigations are continuing at Peyia police station.
