Man remanded after police seize crystal meth in Limassol district

Limassol, Cyprus. A 47-year-old man was remanded in custody for five days on Saturday after police found approximately 60g of crystal meth during a patrol in the Limassol district.

The man was also found to be driving with an expired learner’s permit, police said.

Vehicle search

Officers from the Limassol crime prevention unit stopped the man’s vehicle for a check at around 1.30pm on Friday while patrolling a village in the district.

Police said a search of the suspect found a zip-lock bag containing more than 2g of crystal meth. A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered a second concealed bag containing approximately 59g of the drug.

Arrest and court appearance

The suspect was arrested and taken to the Limassol offices of the drug squad, Ykan, where police said he admitted the drugs belonged to him.

He appeared before the Limassol district court on Saturday, which ordered his remand in custody for five days as investigations continue.
