Drammen, Norway. More than 100 homes were destroyed in a fire near Drammen in southern Norway on Friday, as firefighters worked to contain the blaze amid strong winds.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or missing people.
Firefighting and evacuations
Thick black smoke covered the area, about 50 kilometres west of Oslo, where the fire struck a neighbourhood of terraced housing.
More than 60 firefighters were deployed to tackle the blaze, while helicopters dropped water on the flames. Police evacuated hundreds of people as the fire continued to burn and spread into surrounding forest.
Cause under investigation
It was not immediately known where or how the fire began.
