Theodorou said that during the visit to the firing range, the organisation and training standards of personnel were observed in the technical and tactical use of weapon systems.
During the firing, participants were trained in procedures for tactical and technical artillery fire direction, coordination of supporting fire and targeting. Soldiers also underwent training in cooperation procedures aimed at strengthening interoperability and the national guard’s combat readiness.
Missing TNT from Kalo Chorio range
Earlier this month, 13.6kg of TNT went missing from one of the national guard’s firing ranges in Kalo Chorio during an exercise.
Drone footage taken nearby showed the 13.6 kilograms of TNT in place shortly before it was reported missing, but its whereabouts remain unknown.
The defence ministry said the missing quantity of TNT poses a great risk to human lives if detonated, and added that its report into the incident is expected this week.
