National Theatre Live screening of Hamlet to be shown in Limassol for one night

Limassol, Cyprus. A special screening of William Shakespeare’s Hamlet, directed by National Theatre deputy artistic director Robert Hastie, will be shown in Cyprus for one night only. The screening will take place on Saturday at 8pm at Rialto Theatre in Limassol.

Production and cast

The contemporary reimagining stars Olivier Award-winner Hiran Abeysekera as Hamlet, alongside 2024 Ian Charleson Award winner Francesca Mills as Ophelia. The production is set in a world defined by power, privilege and uncertainty and follows a young prince confronting questions of duty, doubt and existence.

Direction and ensemble

Hastie is known for inventive and dynamic storytelling, and the production is described as stylish, sharp and darkly humorous. The cast includes Alistair Petrie as Claudius, Siobhán Redmond as the First Player and Geoffrey Streatfeild as Polonius, alongside a wider company.

Screening details

Filmed live at the National Theatre, the screening will be presented with Greek and English subtitles. The Guardian has described it as “a beautifully choreographed production”.

The screening is scheduled for April 4 at Rialto Theatre, Limassol, at 8pm, in English with English and Greek subtitles. Tickets cost €10-12. More information is available at www.rialto.interticket.com and by phone at 7777-7745.
