Berlin, Germany. NATO said it is working with the United States to understand details of Washington’s decision on a planned drawdown of U.S. troops from Germany, according to spokesperson Allison Hart.
NATO response to U.S. force posture decision
Hart said on Saturday that NATO is engaging with the United States to clarify the details of the decision regarding force posture in Germany.
In a post on X, Hart wrote that the adjustment “underscores the need for Europe to continue to invest more in defence and take on a greater share of the responsibility for our shared security,” adding that NATO has already seen progress since Allies agreed to invest 5% of GDP at the NATO Summit in The Hague last year.
Hart also said NATO remained confident in its ability to provide deterrence and defence as the alliance continues what she described as a shift toward “a stronger Europe in a stronger NATO.”
How do you think the planned U.S. troop drawdown from Germany could affect Europe’s defence priorities?
