The recently extended working schedule saved lives of two men. At 18:10 the young men were swimming on one of the beaches in Kato Paphos and despite of the fact that they were close to the sea, they started drowning. If the working hours weren’t extended, then their lives would not have been spared because lifeguards used to work until 17:00.

The Head of the Beach departments in the Paphos Municipality congratulated George Theocharous and Andreas Michaelides for successfully rescuing the two men.

This proves that the decision to extend the working hours was wise- human lives and not 8-hour working day are of ultimate importance.

The decision to prolong the hours until 19:00 was made however after 3 people died last month.
