Nine drivers caught over alcohol limit in overnight police checks

Nicosia, Cyprus. Police said on Thursday that nine people were caught driving above the legal alcohol limit during overnight traffic checks.

Officers stopped 450 vehicles and checked 620 people, recording 308 traffic violations.

Traffic offences

The violations included 88 speeding offences, while 10 vehicles were impounded.

Arrests and drug tests

Nine people were arrested for offences including drug possession and living in Cyprus without the required residence documents.

Police carried out six roadside drug tests, five of which returned positive results.
