Oslo, Norway. Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre said it would be unwise for Europe to impose a cap on natural gas prices after prices rose around 60% in the wake of the US-Israeli war on Iran.
Norway opposes price cap
Støre, speaking at an energy conference in Oslo, said Norway, Europe’s biggest gas supplier, would continue to argue against such a measure and would remain a reliable provider of energy to the continent.
Background on previous surge
Europe refrained from capping gas costs during the price surge that followed Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
