Noverna poll for Politis shows scepticism toward President Christodoulides on key policies

Nicosia, Cyprus. A Noverna poll conducted for Politis on Monday found widespread scepticism toward President Nikos Christodoulides, with respondents expressing doubts about government policies on water management, taxation, crime and migration. Overall, 28 per cent approved of his performance and 56 per cent disapproved, based on a sample of 1,020 people.


Overall approval and key concerns

The poll recorded overall approval at 28 per cent and disapproval at 56 per cent. Water policy emerged as the most critical concern, with seven out of ten respondents questioning the adequacy of government action.

Water management and regional concerns

Among respondents, 34 per cent said measures were probably insufficient and 35 per cent deemed them wholly inadequate. Residents in Famagusta and Limassol expressed the greatest concern that Cyprus may face shortages this summer.

Economic policy and tax reform

On economic issues, 38 per cent approved of government measures while 51 per cent disapproved. Regarding tax reform, 44 per cent said it mainly benefits high-income earners, while 18 per cent saw gains for the middle class and 8 per cent said it helps lower-income groups.

Crime and public safety

On crime and public safety, 37 per cent approved of government action under Justice Minister Costas Fitiris, while 56 per cent disapproved.

Immigration policy

On immigration policy, 43 per cent approved of government measures and 47 per cent rejected them, with a significant proportion of those dissenting being young Elam voters.

Digital transformation

Digital transformation of the state was the most positively received area, with 46 per cent expressing satisfaction and 38 per cent critical.
