Oinou Yi expands its estate-grown wine portfolio in Omodos

Omodos, Cyprus. Oinou Yi, founded by the Vasiliades family in 2019, produces estate-grown wines in Omodos with guidance from oenologist Victor Bankov and consulting Greek oenologist Artemis Toulaki. The winery’s portfolio includes indigenous and international grape varieties, as well as Commandaria, with a sparkling wine expected to be added soon.

Winery and production

The winery grows Xynisteri, Vasilissa, Promara, Assyrtiko, Muscat of Alexandria, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon for white wines. Its red varieties include Maratheftiko, Giannoudi, Lefkada, Mavro, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Grenache.

According to the winery, the focus is on quality and the production of fine wines for Cyprus and export markets. Anna Maria Vassiliades, who leads the winery, describes winemaking as an art, combining experience with high-tech equipment.

Tasting room and vineyard setting

The tasting room is open daily and offers wines by the flight, bottle and glass, along with prepackaged local fare. Its patio overlooks Omodos and the surrounding vineyards.

The vineyards are bordered by dry-stone walls associated with traditional Omodos house builders. Roses are planted among the vines to warn against the spread of disease and are also used to produce Oinou Yi rosewater.
