Omdia raises 2026 semiconductor revenue forecast to 62.7% amid memory supply constraints

Nicosia, Cyprus. Market intelligence firm Omdia has raised its semiconductor revenue forecast for 2026 to 62.7%, citing unprecedented growth in DRAM and NAND markets driven by sustained demand and ongoing supply shortages.

Revised forecast and supply constraints

Omdia said its revised outlook reflects continued constraints in memory supply that are expected to persist throughout the year and support strong pricing dynamics. The report said meaningful supply relief is unlikely before well into 2027, suggesting continued pressure on availability and pricing.

DRAM and NAND expansion

According to the analysis, the DRAM market is forecast to nearly double in value, while the smaller NAND segment could quadruple compared with 2025, highlighting the scale of expansion in memory technologies.

HBM shift and output effects

The report said supply challenges are being intensified by the industry’s shift toward High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) production, which delivers lower output volumes but commands significantly higher prices.

Enterprise and data centre demand

Omdia said strong enterprise and data centre demand is expected to shape the overall market trajectory in 2026. It cited a major server refresh cycle planned by enterprises in 2026, alongside elevated investment levels from hyperscalers.

System upgrades and pricing

The report said organisations are increasingly retiring legacy hardware to support more demanding workloads, creating an opportunity given the scale of existing installed systems. It added that the transition is accompanied by a shift toward higher-value system designs based on next-generation silicon and advanced connectivity solutions, and that ongoing component shortages are expected to push average selling prices higher across the sector.
