OpenAI signs deal with Malta to provide free ChatGPT Plus access for one year

Valletta, Malta. OpenAI has signed a deal with the Maltese government to give all residents free access to its ChatGPT Plus service for one year. The initiative makes Malta the first country to launch such a programme.

Access linked to free AI course

Residents will gain access after completing a free course on how to use artificial intelligence. The programme, which started in May, is expected to expand as more people complete the course, and it is also open to Maltese citizens living abroad.

Government comments and deal terms

“We are turning an unfamiliar concept into practical assistance for our families, students, and workers,” Maltese Economy Minister Silvio Schembri said in an OpenAI statement. OpenAI did not disclose the financial terms of the deal.

Will you complete the free course to receive access to ChatGPT Plus?
