Pafos beat Slavia Prague 4-1 but exit Champions League on goal difference

Paphos, Cyprus. Pafos beat Slavia Prague 4-1 in the Champions League but were eliminated from the league phase due to an inferior goal difference compared with Bodo/Glimt and Benfica. The Cyprus champions finished 26th with nine points after eight matches.


Elimination decided on goal difference

Pafos ended the eight-match league phase in 26th place with nine points, level with Bodo/Glimt and Benfica. Bodo/Glimt and Benfica, who had a better goal difference, finished 23rd and 24th respectively and progressed in the competition.

Match scoring

Pafos opened the scoring in the 17th minute through Dragomir with a shot from outside the area. Slavia equalised in the 44th minute through Chaloupek.

Second-half goals and sending off

Pafos scored three second-half goals, with Bruno Felipe making it 2-1 in the 53rd minute, Anderson scoring in the 84th, and Orsic adding a fourth in the 87th. Slavia played with 10 men from the 59th minute after Bořil was shown a straight red card for a foul on Zaza.
