Nicosia, Cyprus. Cyprus Public Transport will suspend the Pame Express park and ride bus service from GSP stadium into Nicosia from March 23 due to a continuous shortage of drivers.
Service suspension
Cyprus Public Transport said on Wednesday that the Pame Express service would be suspended as of March 23 because of the ongoing shortage of drivers.
Company response
The company said efforts were being made to find a solution and restore the service as soon as possible. It apologised to passengers for the inconvenience.
Ongoing staffing challenges
The driver shortage is not new. Last year, Cyprus Public Transport business development director Alexandros Kamberos told the Cyprus Mail that as drivers retire, fewer join the fleet, and that while remuneration packages are attractive, it takes 18 months and more than €3,000 to obtain a professional driving licence.
