Paphos, Cyprus. Paphos airport returned to operation on Monday afternoon after an earlier evacuation triggered by a suspicious object seen on radar. The evacuation was believed to be linked to two drones fired at Cyprus shortly after midday.
Evacuation and response
Passengers and staff were removed from the terminal building and taken into the car park. Government spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis said both drones had been “dealt with”.
Guidance for nearby villages
A source from the interior ministry told the Cyprus Mail that no evacuation orders were issued for nearby villages. Residents in Timi, Anarita, and Mandria were instructed to avoid “unnecessary movements”.
What further guidance have authorities given to residents and travelers following the airport’s reopening?
