Paphos tourism board hosts British Guild of Travel Writers on familiarisation visit

Paphos, Cyprus. The Paphos regional tourism board (Etap), in collaboration with Constantinou Bros Hotels, is hosting 36 members of the British Guild of Travel Writers as part of a destination familiarisation visit. The programme runs from April 27 to May 1.

Strategy and market focus

Etap said the initiative is part of a joint strategy between the tourism board and the private sector to strengthen Paphos’ international outreach, with a particular focus on enhancing visibility in the British market.

Experiential tourism programme

According to the board, the programme is designed to promote authentic experiential tourism through thematic guided tours and first-hand exposure to the region’s cultural, gastronomic and natural assets.

Cultural and archaeological sites

During their stay, participating journalists visited landmarks including the birthplace of Aphrodite, Paphos’ Old Town, the Tombs of the Kings, the Paphos Medieval Castle and the Kato Paphos Archaeological Park.

Digital visitor applications

Participants were also introduced to smart digital visitor applications intended to enhance interpretation and enrich the visitor experience at key archaeological sites across the region.

Gastronomy and local experiences

The programme includes visits to wineries and agritourism establishments, with Etap saying guests gain insight into local production processes, Cypriot cuisine and products associated with the Paphos region.

Nature route and ecotourism

Etap said the itinerary also highlights the natural environment and ecotourism potential through a thematic route, including visits to Polis Chrysochous, the Akamas Peninsula, Lara Bay, the Turtle Museum in Innia, the Smigies nature trail and the Baths of Aphrodite. The board said the itinerary aims to showcase “the region’s unique natural identity” and reinforce its positioning as an ecotourism destination.
