Limassol, Cyprus. Pasydy said a staff member in the accident and emergency department at Limassol General Hospital was attacked on Sunday morning. The union condemned the incident and called for those responsible to be brought to justice.
Union response
Pasydy expressed solidarity with the assaulted employee and with the entire accident and emergency department. The union said it was “once again witnessing unacceptable incidents of violence against health professionals” and added that such behaviour cannot be tolerated.
Calls for investigation and enforcement
Pasydy called on the state health services organisation (Okypy) and the police to investigate the incident and determine whether all safety measures had been properly implemented. It said the protection of health professionals is a non-negotiable priority and an obligation of the state, urging authorities to fully enforce the law and ensure those responsible are punished.
