Nicosia, Cyprus. Police confirmed on Sunday that 12 people were arrested during a series of coordinated overnight operations nationwide. The arrests covered offences including attempted arson, assault causing serious bodily harm, drink driving and illegal residence.

Police said the 12 arrests were made for a range of offences including attempted arson, assault causing serious bodily harm, drink driving and illegal residence.
Vehicle stops and checks
Officers stopped 947 vehicles and inspected 1,225 drivers and passengers during the night.
Traffic enforcement
Traffic enforcement featured heavily, with 517 reports issued for various violations. Police said 232 of the reports related to speeding.
Alcohol and drug testing
A total of 320 alcohol tests were conducted, with 35 drivers returning positive results. Two individuals also tested positive in preliminary drug checks.
Seizures and premises inspections
As part of the operation, 24 vehicles were seized. Police also carried out 48 inspections of premises, issuing nine complaints for breaches related to operating licences.
