Nicosia, Cyprus. Police arrested 16 people during overnight operations across Cyprus aimed at preventing serious crime, maintaining public order and enhancing public safety. The arrests involved offences including drug possession, illegal stay in the Republic and illegal employment.
Checks and inspections
Officers stopped 546 vehicles and checked 708 drivers and passengers during the operations.
Police also inspected 36 premises, resulting in one report.
Traffic enforcement
Traffic officers issued 282 citations for various offences, including 80 for speeding.
A total of 226 breathalyser tests were conducted, with three drivers testing positive for alcohol. Police also carried out two roadside drug tests, both of which returned positive indications.
Vehicle impoundments
Six vehicles were impounded as part of the investigations.
