Police continue investigation into missing 22-year-old Bangladeshi student in Oroklini

Larnaca, Cyprus. Police in Larnaca said on Friday that investigations are continuing into the case of a 22-year-old Bangladeshi student who has been missing from his home in Oroklini since last week. Authorities said they are using technological tools and examining multimedia material as part of the search.

Investigation ongoing

Police said that, as part of their examinations, all technological tools are being used to locate the 22-year-old and identify the places he was or visited from the moment he left his residence.

They added that they are in contact with the young man’s father, who lives abroad, and are cooperating with local authorities.

Multimedia material under review

Police said they also possess other multimedia files that were located, handed over or received, and that the authenticity of those files is being investigated.

Events before disappearance

The student, Shahruar Ahmed Emon, had been living in Oroklini and reportedly left his home on June 12 to begin work at a nearby factory.

He later sent a message with his location to a friend and messaged his father asking for help before communication stopped.

Ransom demand reported

The student’s father later reportedly received several calls and a ransom demand from an unknown individual.

Checks on possible movements

According to local media reports, authorities have carried out checks to determine whether the student crossed to the north or left the island, but found no record in the electronic system.

Authorities are now examining whether he crossed to the north illegally or remains in the territory of the Republic.
