Nicosia, Cyprus. Police chief Themistos Arnaoutis said on Sunday that the electoral process was continuing smoothly, with no major irregularities reported. He said officers were deployed at polling stations and patrolling nationwide to ensure public order.
Polling process
Arnaoutis said there had been no major problems or irregularities, although minor issues had arisen. He added that cooperation between services remained continuous and effective during the voting process, with results to be compiled centrally after polls close later in the evening.
Political billboards
Asked whether responsibility for removing unauthorised political billboards rests with the police, Arnaoutis said it lies under the auspices of the competent municipalities. He said municipal inspectors may issue notices and enforce removal if campaign material remains after warnings, with fines or removal costs applied where regulations are breached.
Priority across districts
Arnaoutis said electoral integrity remains the priority across all districts.
