Polis Chrysochous, Cyprus. The municipality of Polis Chrysochous on Friday urged residents to take extra care as high temperatures increase the risk of wildfires.
Residents were asked to avoid activities that could cause fires and to report smoke, fires or suspicious behaviour to the authorities.
Fire prevention measures
The municipality called on residents to refrain from using equipment that produces sparks and from burning dry grass or waste.
It said residents should remain alert on rural roads and in forests, and report suspicious behaviour by noting vehicle registration numbers and contacting the authorities.
Emergency contacts
Anyone who sees smoke or a fire should immediately call the fire service on 112 or the forestry department on 1407.
The municipality said protecting lives, property and the environment is everyone’s responsibility.
