Rightmove: UK home asking prices rise 1.2% in May as mortgage rate eases

London, United Kingdom. British home asking prices rose more than usual for May, despite uncertainty about the Iran war, Rightmove said. The property website also noted that a key mortgage rate eased back.

Prices rise above typical May increase

Rightmove said asking prices rose 1.2% month-on-month, compared with the 1.0% increase usually seen in May. Prices rose 0.8% in April from March.

Market activity steady amid pressures

“What’s notable this month is that activity in the market is staying fairly steady, even with ongoing cost-of-living pressures and wider global uncertainty,” said Colleen Babcock, property expert at Rightmove.

How do you think easing mortgage rates could affect home asking prices in the coming months?
