Robotic coffee kiosk introduced at Nicosia General Hospital

Nicosia, Cyprus. Nicosia General Hospital has introduced the AROS 24/7 Robo Café, an autonomous coffee kiosk developed by Cyprus-based robotics company AROS. The machine operates around the clock and currently requires customers to pay with a Visa card.

Autonomous coffee service

Customers place orders through a touchscreen, after which a robotic arm grinds coffee, prepares espresso-based drinks and serves them without human intervention.

AROS says the kiosk can prepare fresh coffee in under a minute. Its menu includes milk options, flavoured syrups and decaffeinated coffee.

Customer experience

A customer who tested the machine said the robotic arm’s movements were precise and noted the technology was impressive to watch.

However, the customer said the ordering process was slower than expected and that the coffee did not justify the waiting time or price. The customer also said the automated process lacked the human interaction often associated with buying coffee.
