Bucharest, Romania. Romania’s Foreign Ministry said it summoned Iran’s ambassador late on Tuesday to protest against Tehran’s strikes on Middle Eastern countries and Cyprus, citing risks to regional security and maritime safety.
Summons and protest
The ministry said the Romanian side conveyed deep concern about what it described as violations of the sovereignty of states in the region targeted by Iran’s indiscriminate attacks, and expressed full solidarity with those countries.
Call for de-escalation
In a statement, the ministry said Romania appealed for the urgent de-escalation of tensions and the protection of civilians.
What steps do you think regional actors should take to reduce tensions and protect civilians?
