Moscow, Russia. Russian officials said Ukraine launched more than 400 drones against Moscow and the surrounding region overnight, wounding 10 people and causing fires at buildings and industrial facilities.
Damage and casualties
Moscow region Governor Andrei Vorobyov said seven people, including three Chinese nationals, were injured in an attack on Domodedovo, near one of Moscow’s main airports.
Domodedovo Mayor Yevgeniya Khrustaleva said a fire broke out at a local industrial park and a residential building was struck.
In the Belgorod region near the Ukrainian border, the regional governor said a drone attack on a village killed one person and injured four others.
Air defences and Ukrainian claims
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said more than 400 “enemy drones” were launched at the Moscow region between 8:30 p.m. and 5 a.m. He said air defence systems destroyed most of them at long range, including 85 as they approached the Russian capital.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said Kyiv had targeted logistical facilities and an oil depot in the Moscow region.
Wildberries operations
Wildberries, Russia’s largest online retailer, said it evacuated its logistics centre in the Podolsk district of the Moscow region as a precaution before later resuming normal operations.
On Saturday, Ukrainian drone attacks killed seven Wildberries warehouse workers and injured dozens more, while another strike caused a fire at an oil depot in the wider Moscow region.
Ukraine has accused Wildberries of selling military supplies used in Russia’s war effort.
