Limassol, Cyprus. A 66-year-old driver died in a collision with a motorbike on the Limassol to Platres road on Sunday, the second road fatality recorded in Cyprus over the weekend.
Sunday collision on road to Vati
Police said that at 1.35pm a car driven by 66-year-old Kyriacos Kyriacou crashed with a motorbike ridden by a 40-year-old man on the road to Vati on the Limassol to Platres road. Police and ambulances attended the scene, and both drivers were taken to hospital where doctors confirmed Kyriacou’s death.
Motorcyclist hospitalised with serious injuries
The motorcyclist was later hospitalised at a private clinic with multiple injuries, and his condition was described as serious.
Earlier fatal crash in Nicosia
The crash followed an accident in Nicosia on Saturday evening involving a motorcyclist and a car. In that incident, a 17-year-old motorcyclist was killed when hit by a car driven by a 54-year-old man who was three times over the alcohol limit, and the driver was remanded in police custody.
