Berlin, Germany. A second suspect detained in connection with a deadly car-ramming attack near Berlin’s Pride celebrations has been released, Germany’s federal prosecutors’ office said on Monday. The attack killed one person in Tiergarten park near the Brandenburg Gate on Saturday.
Investigation continues
“We continue to investigate broadly,” the prosecutors’ office told Reuters, declining to provide further comment.
Spiegel reported on Monday, citing sources, that authorities released the person after initial suspicion that he had been a passenger in the vehicle during the attack could not be upheld.
Attack near Pride celebrations
The ramming took place at about 10 p.m. (2000 GMT) on Saturday, near the annual Christopher Street Day celebrations.
The suspected driver, a 21-year-old man with a record of Islamist extremist activity, was shot dead in Berlin on Sunday.
