Nicosia, Cyprus. Candidates from the Sikou Pano! (Get Up!) party registered their candidacies for the forthcoming parliamentary elections in the Nicosia district on Wednesday morning. Party founder Chistofer Tornaritis and leader Sotiris Christou spoke to reporters afterwards.
Statements from party leadership
Tornaritis said it was the first time he had made statements as a politician and said the movement began with him with the aim of awakening the people. He said the party has published all of its positions and called for gaining strength to move forward with significant changes.
Christou called on the electorate to “give the system, not themselves, a wallop”.
Policy focus and candidates
Tornaritis said a key policy is the inclusion of “emotional education” lessons in school, saying that is where problems begin.
Sikou Pano! was formed by Tornaritis in January. No poll has forecast the party to win any seats at the election. Tornaritis’ wife, fashion designer Ramona Filip, is also standing as a candidate.
