Nicosia, Cyprus. Sikou Pano! said on Tuesday it was moving ahead with a possible challenge over what it described as a violation of the electoral process. The party said it was considering legal action over what it called serious issues regarding the election’s legality, equal treatment and political pluralism in the pre-election period.
Party statement
In a written statement, the party said there were reasonable and serious questions about the impartiality of institutions, equal access to public discourse and the free expression of the will of the people.
It said it was considering filing an election challenge and pursuing other legal remedies. The party also issued a public appeal to international organisations to assess the issues it said arose during the electoral process.
Allegations raised
Sikou Pano! said the issues it documented included unequal treatment, limited access to public and televised debates, and the selective enforcement of rules, which it said created conditions of political imbalance.
The party also raised concerns about parts of the media broadcasting operating on principles of objectivity, objectivity and democratic pluralism.
Next steps
The party said it would continue to collect testimonials and evaluate audiovisual and legal material for use in court and before independent authorities and European institutions.
