Sistema Cyprus to stage two youth orchestra concerts in Larnaca and Nicosia

Larnaca, Cyprus. Sistema Cyprus will present two concerts in Larnaca and Nicosia featuring young musicians from its beginner, junior and intermediate orchestras. The performances are part of the Crossing Paths concert series.

Larnaca concert on March 14

The first concert in the Crossing Paths series will take place at Larnaca’s Lykourgos Municipal Theatre on March 14 at 6pm. The Intermediate Wind and Percussion Orchestra of Larnaca and the Intermediate Strings and Percussion Orchestra of Nicosia will perform together in a programme drawing inspiration from different musical cultures and historical periods.

The repertoire will include works for winds, strings and percussion, including Habanera and Toreador’s Song from the opera Carmen by Georges Bizet and the overture Romeo and Juliet by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.

The concert will also include the first official appearance of the Larnaca Beginner Wind and Percussion Orchestra, with young musicians sharing the stage with more experienced Sistema Cyprus performers.

Nicosia concert on April 5

The second concert will be held on April 5 at 6pm at the Satiriko Theatre in Nicosia. The Junior Strings and Percussion Orchestra of Nicosia will lead the programme.

The concert will include Bizet’s Farandole, and the Beginner Strings Orchestra will appear on stage for the first time under the supervision of Anastasia Nicolaidou.
