Xylofagou, Cyprus. A 31-year-old Syrian national was arrested on Saturday in connection with a fight in Xylofagou last Wednesday, bringing the number of arrests in the case to six. The Famagusta District Court ordered him held for four days while investigations continue.
Latest arrest
Police located the suspect and brought him before the Famagusta District Court, which issued the detention order to facilitate further inquiries.
The Famagusta CID is continuing its investigation into the incident and is searching for additional suspects.
Previous detentions
Two men aged 26 and 24 were arrested on July 15 as part of the investigation.
Earlier this month, police arrested a 27-year-old man last Thursday, followed by the arrests of a 30-year-old and a 20-year-old on Monday.
Further suspects sought
Authorities are seeking three additional individuals, as well as another suspect whose personal details were released last Friday.
Police have not disclosed further details about the circumstances of the fight or the allegations under investigation against those arrested.
Xylofagou mukhtar Giorgos Ioulianos previously told the Cyprus Mail that the altercation involved two rival Syrian gangs in a dispute over money.
