Syrian refugees are still coming to Cyprus

Сирийские беженцы

27 refugees from Aleppo arrived to the so-called Northern Cyprus on the broken boat and almost died, because the engine has failed – stated the police report. The owner of the boat escaped on the jet ski. The Coastal guard saved the people and towed the boat back to the Latchi port.

In total, there were 16 men and 6 women (1 of them is pregnant) on board, including 2 infants. According to the police, the price for the “ticket to freedom” was set at 2,000 Euros per person.

Later, it was established that the 19-year-old captain of the boat and three other men were already deported from the island. They were all arrested for human trafficking and illegal transportation of immigrants.

During the previous month, more than 100 refugees were arrested.
